Chairman Welcomes Dato’ Hajeedar to TMF Board of Trustees

The Chairman of The Maumoon Foundation, His Excellency Uz. Maumoon Abdul Gayoom, today welcomed Dato’ Hajeedar Abdul Majid, the distinguished Malaysian architect of the Islamic Centre of the Maldives, as a member of the Foundation’s Board of Trustees.

At a meeting held today at TMF Headquarters, Dato’ Hajeedar presented his formal letter of acceptance to serve on the Board. His appointment marks an important step in strengthening TMF’s leadership with figures of international recognition and long-standing contributions to the Maldives.

The meeting was attended by TMF Vice Chairman Mr. Ahmed Faris Maumoon, General Secretary Dr. Ahmed Shareef, TMF member former Minister of Home Affairs Hon. Abdullah Kamaludeen and members of the Executive Committee of the Foundation.

Dato’ Hajeedar is widely known in the Maldives for designing the Islamic Centre, one of the nation's most iconic landmarks. In his home country of Malaysia, he is highly regarded for his pioneering work in heritage conservation and Islamic architecture. He has led the restoration and conservation of numerous historic structures, including Masjid Zahir in Alor Setar and the Sultan Abdul Samad Building in Kuala Lumpur. His firm, Hajeedar and Associates, has played a leading role in shaping Malaysia’s architectural landscape through a blend of tradition and innovation.

His addition to the Board is expected to bring valuable insight and experience in advancing TMF’s work in education, culture, and development.
