Maumoon Foundation Awards Fully Funded Scholarship to IUM Student

The Maumoon Foundation has awarded a fully funded scholarship to Ms. Hawwa Rukhsana, a student pursuing the Master of Arts in Qur’anic Studies at the Islamic University of Maldives (IUM).

The scholarship was granted following the joint announcement made by the Maumoon Foundation and the Islamic University of Maldives on 28 October 2025. A total of 14 students applied for the scholarship, from which Ms. Rukhsana was selected by the IUM Scholarship Committee after a careful and competitive evaluation process.

The fully funded scholarship covers tuition fees, conference participation fees, book allowances, and a monthly stipend, provided by the Maumoon Foundation to support the recipient throughout her academic journey.

The Scholarship Awarding Ceremony was held today at the Islamic University of Maldives. The scholarship was presented by Mr. Ahmed Faris Maumoon, Vice Chairman of the Maumoon Foundation. The event was attended by Dr. Mohamed Zahir Hussain, Chancellor of the Islamic University of Maldives, Dr. Ali Zahir, Vice Chancellor of the Islamic University of Maldives, and members of the Maumoon Foundation’s Executive Committee, along with academic staff and students of the University.

Speaking at the ceremony, Mr. Ahmed Faris Maumoon reaffirmed the Foundation’s commitment to supporting higher education and encouraging the pursuit of Islamic scholarship. He emphasized the importance of empowering Maldivian youth to contribute meaningfully to the intellectual and moral development of the nation.

Dr. Ali Zahir, Vice Chancellor of IUM, in his speech expressed appreciation to the Maumoon Foundation for its contribution toward advancing Islamic education.

Mr. Maumoon also announced that under the guidance of Chairman Uz. Maumoon Abdul Gayoom, the Maumoon Foundation is working to introduce more scholarship opportunities and other educational and community development activities in the near future.
