Former Foreign Minister Dunya Maumoon Attends The Phoenix of Gaza Premiere as Chief Guest
Former Minister of Foreign Affairs and Executive Committee Member of the Maumoon Foundation, Dunya Maumoon, attended the Malé premiere of the documentary film The Phoenix of Gaza as Chief Guest. The screening took place last night at Olympus Theatre.
The film, directed and recorded by Palestinian journalist Yousef Al‑Helou, offers a powerful and deeply personal look into life in Gaza - capturing the resilience, culture, and spirit of the Palestinian people amid years of apartheid and occupation. Al‑Helou described the film as “my love letter to Gaza.”
In her brief remarks, Dunya Maumoon described the film as “a powerful film that brings much-needed attention to the Palestinian struggle.” She thanked Mr. Al‑Helou for sharing these stories with the world and expressed appreciation to International Muslimah Aid and Education (IMAE) for hosting the screening in Malé. She also added, “We in the Maldives have been watching closely at the unfolding genocide happening for the last two years and more, and it is something we condemn and call for cessation”
The event was well attended by members of the public, youths, and international guests.
